Behavioral Endocrinology Laboratory

Shane Endocrinology Lab.jpg

The behavioral endocrinology lab allows for analysis of salivary hormones, specifically cortisol, and testosterone. The funding to set up the endocrinology lab was provided to Drs. April Masarik, Kathryn Demps, and myself by the Spencer Foundation for the project "Educational Outcomes for African Refugee Youth: A Longitudinal Study of Stress and Protective Factors."  In this project, we examine cortisol responses to stress among African refugee youth and observe how this correlates with family dynamics and educational outcomes longitudinally.  Interested in learning more about our work?  Check out: Dr. April Masarik's Human Development & Ecology Lab.
